During one of our last episodes, we talked about the importance of designing with users in mind. This is a foundational part of the GC Digital Standards. What could be better than putting users at the centre of our efforts to improve our jobs and service offerings?

If you read our last post, you know we are interested in artificial intelligence. This week we want to talk a little bit about how we’re actually using artificial intelligence within the Canada School of Public Service (CSPS) Digital Academy to solve a very real problem or — as marketing people say — embrace an opportunity.

In this episode, we’re experimenting. I’ve drawn from a fun, in-depth interview with folks from the API Store team and Transport Canada and distilled what I think are the most interesting, relevant, applicable parts. Your morning begins with your smartphone alarm ringing. You hit play on your favourite song, maybe Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie”, Elton John's "Bennie And The Jets" or some Bruno Mars "Blinding Lights" to help get you moving for the day ahead. You might drop off your kids to school on the way to work. You check the weather before switching between your Instagram feed, Spotify, Audible or Gmail to pass the time. You get to work and tuck your phone away, but keep it running to check it throughout the day. Like most Canadians, you’re likely using an Android or Apple device.
