Climate literacy for public servants means improving our ability to recognize how a changing climate affects our mandates and our ability to deliver on them. This online self-paced course provides the foundational knowledge needed to understand the science of climate change, with a focus on what a changing climate means for Canada and its citizens. Participants will learn how they can contribute to a climate-resilient, net-zero-emissions Canada and enhance their understanding of why climate literacy is an essential part of serving Canadians.
Topics include:
- introducing the fundamentals of climate science
- discussing climate impacts and solutions, including climate change mitigation and adaptation
- understanding Indigenous knowledge, perspectives, and climate leadership
- exploring governance, justice, and a shared responsibility for climate change
Notes:
After successfully completing this course, learners are invited to register for Contributing to a Net-Zero Canada (CHC102) and Adapting to Climate Change in Canada (CHC103) to learn more about climate change solutions and the role of public servants.
This course is delivered and maintained by Environment and Climate Change Canada.
