Description
Considering matters of intellectual property is an important part of the decision-making process for public servants at all levels. This online self-paced course imparts the essential knowledge needed to understand, identify and apply intellectual property (IP) considerations and best practices at work. Participants will learn about the different types of IP and their roles in managing or addressing IP in a way that optimizes outcomes and benefits for Canada and Canadians.
Topics include:
- defining what IP is and why it is important
- distinguishing between formal and informal IP rights
- identifying IP considerations unique to the public service
- learning about confidentiality and disclosure
- reviewing commercialization and licensing
