Understanding the legislative and policy framework related to workplace organization and classification is an essential first step to providing guidance, and making informed decisions about classification. This online self-paced course provides an overview of the organization and classification framework of the core public administration of the Government of Canada, and explains how it fits into the Policy on People Management. Participants will explore concepts that will enable them to fully understand the inner workings of the federal Classification Program.

Topics include:

  • examining the occupational group structure
  • identifying the documents required in the analysis process
  • introducing the classification decision process and its potential impacts
  • identifying stakeholders in organization and classification and their roles and responsibilities
  • presenting the legislative and governance foundations of the Classification Program, and the powers emanating therefrom

Notes:

This course fulfills the first part of the mandatory learning program for human resources advisors seeking accreditation in organization and classification. The program includes CHC106, CHC107 and CHC108 (under development), for which CHC105 is a prerequisite.

This course is delivered and maintained by Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat.
