Description
The Government of Canada aims to use its purchasing power to promote ethical business practices in Canada and abroad. This online self-paced course introduces the concept of ethical procurement and provides an overview of the annual reporting obligations for government institutions under the Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act. Participants will explore key tools, requirements, and resources available in the federal government to support ethical procurement practices.
Topics include:
- understanding ethical procurement in the Government of Canada
- identifying the risks of human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour in federal supply chains
- examining Canadian legislation and international standards on human rights
- applying requirements for ethical procurement
Notes:
This course helps procurement professionals build a general understanding of human rights risks in federal supply chains. Since it focuses on the federal procurement context, it does not cover all legal definitions or obligations. Participants should therefore continue to consult departmental authorities to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, policies, and contracts.
This course is intended for Government of Canada procurement professionals and other employees interested in learning about ethical procurement.
