Description

The Public Service Employment Act makes managers responsible and accountable for their staffing. This online self-paced course provides managers with the knowledge they need to establish merit criteria, explore the staffing options available to them, and manage the candidate assessment process. Participants will learn how to choose the most effective resourcing strategies and options based on applicable legislation and policies, and about making sound decisions throughout the hiring process.

Topics include:

  • determining resourcing needs and options
  • establishing effective merit criteria
  • planning the assessment process
  • identifying prejudices and barriers, and ways of eliminating or mitigating them
  • communicating through informal discussions and notifications
