Description
As per the Directive on Classification, training is required to ensure that classification decisions are well managed and are made in the public interest. This online self-paced course is the first step in the mandatory training and accreditation of public servants working and specializing in classification. Participants will learn about the concepts of classification and organizational design, the roles and responsibilities of the main players, the scope of classification action requests, and the impacts of classification decisions and changes to organizational structure and job descriptions.
Topics include:
- introducing classification
- exploring organizational design
- evaluating job descriptions
- understanding the impacts of classification decisions
Notes:
This course is mandatory training and must be taken by all managers who authorize organizational structures or organizational charts, approve job descriptions, and/or authorize classification action requests. All new managers who only have delegated classification responsibilities must complete this training within the first 6 months of assuming their new duties in accordance with the Directive on Mandatory Training.
This course is also mandatory for organization and classification trainees who wish to obtain their classification accreditation in order to subdelegate authority and make decisions on classification matters. The Organization and Classification Learning and Accreditation Curriculum (GCpedia) requires prerequisites for each step of the accreditation process.
