Understanding the fundamental rules and regulations that govern financial management frameworks is an essential component of the financial curriculum. This course connects the theory covered in Key Concepts in Financial Management (COR216) with the more practical aspects of public financial management, and is mandatory training for financial officers. Through application exercises, participants will be introduced to the tools currently used to manage finances within the federal government.
Topics include:
- using government reports in making budgetary changes
- making changes to program budgets partway through the financial cycle
- reviewing variance reports
- applying a delegation of spending chart to financial processes
Notes:
This course is divided into two 3-hour sessions offered over two consecutive days.
Key Concepts in Financial Management (COR216) or Financial Management Systems (COR213) (now archived) are prerequisites and must be completed prior to registering for COR210.
