Description
Financial officers play an essential role in the daily and long-term management of public funds entrusted to federal organizations. This online self-paced course provides an overview of the foundational knowledge that new financial officers need to perform their role effectively. Participants will explore the financial management context and key elements associated with financial and expenditure management.
Topics include:
- identifying the codes to follow and the responsibilities of key stakeholders
- explaining the legislative, internal control and management accountability frameworks
- reviewing the Policy on Results, chart of accounts, and delegation of authority
- describing the types of financial management systems
- understanding the expenditure management cycle, budget cycles and associated reports
Notes:
This course is mandatory for all financial officers working in the public service. This course replaces COR211, COR212 and COR213. Learners who have previously completed COR211, COR212 and COR213 do not need to complete COR216.
This course is a prerequisite for Applying Key Concepts in Financial Management (COR210).
