Description
Managers in the federal public service are expected to have a solid understanding of the financial authorities that have been delegated to them. This online self-paced course for managers at all levels provides an overview of the expected practices for the sound management of public funds through responsible planning, spending and reporting. By reviewing helpful examples, participants will learn how to exercise their delegated financial authorities in line with government policies, practices and procedures.
Topics include:
- developing a work plan and a budget
- reporting on finances and results
- exercising delegated spending and financial authorities
Notes:
This course is part of the Authority Delegation Training (ADT) program that is mandatory for managers with delegated signing authority. Delegated managers must complete the following three ADT courses, ideally in this order:
- Authority Delegation Training: Using Public Funds Responsibly
- Authority Delegation Training: Practicing Responsible Procurement
- Authority Delegation Training: Managing People Effectively
These courses are also open to all public servants for professional development purposes. However, completing these courses and their assessments does not entitle these learners to exercise signing authority. Consult the Directive on Delegation of Spending and Financial Authorities for the specific responsibilities for delegating, maintaining and managing, and overseeing spending and financial authorities..
