Description

Safeguarding government information is a public trust that requires data be treated as a strategic asset. With the Policy on Service and Digital transforming how records are managed and preserved in the federal government, all public servants are now expected to have a foundational understanding of proper information management practices.

This event will introduce Library and Archives Canada’s (LAC) new operational metadata standard and procedures for the transfer of digital, physical and analog government records and present the new criteria for transferring government records to LAC using its web transfer form, and explain how these government records are integrated into LAC’s extensive archive.

Participants will learn about the practical resources supporting sound information management practices in ministers’ offices and gain strategies for preserving the integrity, value and accessibility of ministerial and government records.
