In response to the increased demand for modernized government services, the public service must adopt new ways of thinking and doing that are more iterative, collaborative and responsive to emerging needs. This course aims to help managers set the conditions for their teams to reflect on what "modern government" means for the public service and to shape their practices in line with the Government of Canada's Digital Ambition. Through a series of self-paced and instructor-facilitated learning modules, participants will take a comprehensive look at the Government of Canada Digital Standards (part of the new Policy on Service and Digital) and learn how to apply them to deliver better products and improved services.
Topics include:
- enabling a more agile and digital-first working environment
- exploring the meaning of digital in a government service improvement context
- identifying barriers to change and the impact of modernization on organizational culture
- leading teams in new ways and embracing new approaches to doing business
- exploring the expected behaviours associated with digital management
Notes:
This course includes both self-directed and instructor-facilitated learning modules:
- Module 1: Bringing a Digital Mindset into Government (self-paced)
- Module 2: Empowering Managers to Deliver on Modernizing Government (instructor-led)
- Module 3: Modern Leadership Approaches for Supporting Teams (self-paced/instructor-led)
