The design thinking process is a problem-solving methodology for complex problems that is based on five core stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. This course (boot camp) offers an immersive multi-day learning experience in which individuals or established work teams can explore new ways of working while advancing their digital and collaboration skills. Guided by in-class facilitators, participants will apply the design thinking process to a real-world government work scenario that requires human-centred approaches to address policy, product and service challenges.

Upon completion of this boot camp, participants will have gained practical experience in applying design and delivery principles, in collaborating with their peers, and in making user-centred and evidence-based decisions using work methods that are scalable and iterative.

This online self-paced course introduces the concepts, tools, practices and behaviours that support an Agile culture in the modern workplace. Participants will review the principles that drive agility individually and within teams, in order to encourage and sustain an adaptive culture across the public service.
This online self-paced course introduces the principles of human-centred design and how to create policies, programs, services and tools that are feasible and reflect the needs of real people. Participants will gain a basic awareness of common design concepts and learn how to define and solve problems by researching, designing, prototyping, and testing directly with users.
This online self-paced course outlines the benefits of design research and introduces common methodologies and key considerations for conducting data-driven, user-centric research in the public service context. Participants will learn how to properly formulate design research questions and apply best practices to obtain answers that are evidence-based and derived from reliable user data.
This online self-paced course presents the foundational methods and tools needed to identify and analyze problems that need solving. Participants will learn how to apply these discovery methods in their work and use sound problem framing to set up the next steps in the design process.
