The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is increasing rapidly throughout both the public and private sectors as a way to facilitate decision-making. This online self-paced course provides a walkthrough of the definitions, ethical considerations, and the application of algorithms to automate the decision-making process. Participants will review some of the current implications of AI use in government and discover examples of some of the current challenges and potential solutions.
Topics include:
- defining common terms such as ethics, justice, bias, privacy, safety, transparency, and responsibility
- exploring algorithmic decision-making in the justice system
- explaining ombuds institutions, AI, and the Right to an Explanation movement
- recognizing and minimizing risks in the use of AI
- understanding AI standards
