Description

Human-Centred Design (HCD) is a practice that places the needs, wants and experiences of people at the core of its approach. This course takes the form of an interactive seminar that explores how human-centred design can be achieved by using innovative methods such as design thinking and behavioural science to improve government services. Participants will examine relatable case studies to learn how to engage with HCD principles, behaviours and impacts and how to integrate HCD best practices into their work practices.

Topics include:

  • understanding the HCD mindset and its principles
  • exploring real Government of Canada case studies that demonstrate HCD best practices
  • engaging in the discovery, definition, ideation, prototyping and testing phases
  • designing inclusive and accessible solutions
  • applying the HCD approach to Government of Canada products and services
