Description

With the theme “Navigating Canada’s Data Landscape,” this year’s GC Data Conference (February 18 and 19, 2026) focused on the advancement of data sovereignty, government productivity, and data maturity as foundations for a smarter, more competitive, and more resilient data future in Canada.

This fireside chat with Nick Frosst, Co-founder of Cohere, Abdi Aidid, Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Toronto and Visiting Scholar at the Canada School of Public Service and Bailey Kacsmar, Assistant Professor at the University of Alberta and Fellow with the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute, explores the current and future opportunities and challenges of AI while examining themes and implications for sovereignty, stewardship and trust.

Participants will learn about key considerations for public service organizations seeking to build trust, foster inclusion and improve productivity in a rapidly evolving and competitive digital age.

This event was presented in partnership with Natural Resources Canada, with subject-matter support and expertise from the GC Data Community.
