Description

October is Cyber Security Awareness Month, an internationally recognized campaign that helps people in Canada stay secure online by sharing simple steps to protect themselves, their devices, accounts and personal information. The theme for 2026 is "Your Best Defence Is You," to highlight the important role individuals play in protecting themselves and others from cyber threats.

This timely event will explore how cyber threats are evolving in an AI-powered world, where phishing emails, AI-generated scams, and other sophisticated tactics are making it increasingly difficult to distinguish what is real from what is not. The event will also highlight how public servants specifically can protect the Government of Canada from cyber threats posed by foreign nation-state actors and evolving geopolitical threats, while exploring the impacts of AI on cyber security and how to use it safely and securely.

Participants will learn practical cyber security strategies that can be applied immediately to strengthen their cyber resilience, better protect their data, and understand how everyday actions can make a significant difference in protecting themselves against emerging cyber threats.
