Data is at the heart of the transformative shift in modern digital government, enabling new policy decisions and enhancing public services. This course uses a peer-learning approach to explore the strategic issues related to the role and use of data in the public service in a non-technical way. Participants will have opportunities to share their awareness of and involvement in data issues, regardless of their level or comfort with the data for which they are responsible.

Topics include:

  • applying commonly used data terms and concepts
  • explaining how the government uses data
  • recognizing why data skills are so important
  • identifying one's own role with data and how it fits with other organizational roles
