Understanding how Canada's non-partisan federal public service serves the democratically elected government is fundamental to all public servants. This online self-paced course examines the functions of Parliament, the Government of Canada and the federal public service, as well as the organizational relationships between these entities. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of how government works and the vital part they play in its critical operations.
Topics include:
- recognizing the role and structure of the federal government and how Canada is governed
- differentiating departments, central agencies and common government services and their respective functions
