Description
Over the past 50 years, Canada has made significant strides towards gender equality, driven by federal leadership, the dedication of public servants, and strong collaboration with citizens. Landmark legislation, policy reforms, and targeted investments have all advanced progress across social, economic and workplace domains, while complementing broader federal efforts towards Indigenous reconciliation.
Both a commemoration and a call to action, this event will recognize the vital role of the federal public service in driving and sustaining long-term progress towards gender equality amid evolving political and social contexts. The event will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of the creation of Status of Women Canada by reflecting on five decades of leadership, key milestones achieved, measurable impacts delivered, and the gaps that remain.
Participants will draw on lessons learned from the past, strengthen their capacity to apply data-informed and intersectional approaches, and deepen their understanding of how gender equality and reconciliation can advance together to support a more equitable Canada.
This event is presented in partnership with Women and Gender Equality Canada.
