The Government of Canada continues to promote workplace inclusion by identifying and removing systemic barriers that limit equitable participation. This online self-paced course provides the foundations for understanding how history and systems have shaped power and privilege in Canada along with how they have impacted today’s workplace. Participants will acquire the knowledge needed to serve others with fairness, awareness, and accountability.

This course initiates a timely and meaningful conversation on how to identify and address the impacts of systemic racism in the workplace. Participants will advance their understanding of the challenges that accompany discrimination and learn concrete actions for confronting racism and creating meaningful change within the federal public service.

Adapted from the Ontario Human Rights Commission, this online self-paced course explains the meaning of race, racism, and racial discrimination, and presents a historical overview of racism and racial discrimination in Canada. Participants will learn about the human rights protections under the Canadian Human Rights Act and will take away practical approaches for preventing and addressing instances of racial discrimination in their workplace.
This course examines the consequences of unconscious biases and presents practical strategies to mitigate them in the workplace.
