Thank you for registering for International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024: Understanding Apparent and Non-Apparent Disabilities in the Workplace. This event will feature a panel of public servants with lived experience discussing the stigmas associated with apparent and non-apparent disabilities. We encourage you to submit questions or scenarios you’d like to see addressed during the discussion.
The Government of Canada’s Accessibility Strategy for the Public Service of Canada, also referred to as “Nothing Without Us,” is a roadmap to prepare the public service to lead by example and become a model of accessibility for others. The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is an opportunity to recognize the experiences of persons with apparent and non-apparent disabilities and to foster a barrier-free and inclusive public service. The theme of this year’s event "Stop the Stigma, a Call to Action" was selected in consultation with federal employees with disabilities.
To mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, this event will feature a panel of speakers who will discuss the stigmas surrounding both apparent and non-apparent disabilities to highlight the importance of a public service that fosters a barrier-free and inclusive workplace for all.
Participants will learn about the stigmas experienced by employees with disabilities, accommodation measures for individuals with disabilities, and how to promote an accessible, empathetic and inclusive culture at work.
This event is presented in partnership with Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
