Description

Indigenous languages are a vital component of Indigenous identity, culture, and knowledge systems.

In recognition of National Indigenous Languages Day, observed on March 31, this event will explore the importance of Indigenous language preservation and its role in the reconciliation process. A panel of Indigenous speakers will share their experiences, suggestions and insights on sustaining their languages in their communities and in collaboration with federal institutions.

Participants will have opportunities to reflect on the cultural and societal significance of Indigenous languages, as well as on how public servants can support language revitalization as part of their work duties.

This event is presented in partnership with Women and Gender Equality Canada.
