Description
Self-determination plays a fundamental role in reconciliation and the well-being of Indigenous children, families, and communities. An Act Respecting First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Children, Youth, and Families (Bill C-92) recognizes the right to exercise jurisdiction over child and family services.
This event will feature a panel discussion bringing together Indigenous leaders, experts, and government representatives to explore the opportunities, challenges, and lessons learned following the implementation of Bill C-92. Discussions will focus on self-determination, Indigenous governance, cultural and family ties, and the role of the federal public service in supporting this transformation.
Participants will gain a better understanding of how Indigenous self-determination in child and family services advances reconciliation and will learn how to support this process in their daily work.
