Description
Inuit awareness begins by understanding the unique life challenges that have shaped the Indigenous People of the Canadian Arctic, and which continue to impact their communities today. This online self-paced course provides a brief introduction to Inuit in Canada, including their traditions, governance structures and history. Participants will have an opportunity to reflect on a wide range of subjects, including the relationship between Inuit and the Government of Canada and the four distinct land claims agreements within the regions of Inuit Nunangat.
Topics include:
- recognizing the diversity of Inuit across the country
- understanding contemporary realities for Inuit in Canada
- using respectful terminology
- contemplating the historical and modern relationships between Inuit and the Government of Canada
