Description
Learning about Indigenous Peoples and understanding their viewpoints with compassion is an important step towards building strong and respectful relationships. This exercise, delivered in partnership with KAIROS Canada, provides public servants with a unique participatory history lesson that focuses on the loss of Indigenous lands and the cultural assimilation policies. Participants will engage on intellectual and emotional levels to deepen their understanding of the shared history of Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada.
Topics include:
- promoting empathy
- raising awareness of the shared history between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada
- motivating public servants to learn more about First Nations, Inuit and Métis in Canada
