Description
As a materiel management practitioner, you are responsible for managing the Crown's materiel assets, defined as all movable assets (excluding money, records and seized assets) acquired by His Majesty in right of Canada, including vehicles, equipment and furniture. The position entails ensuring materiel is planned, acquired, operated, maintained and divested in a manner that supports the delivery of programs and services to Canadians, while ensuring best value for the Crown.
You ensure materiel is managed in a manner that enables operational outcomes and demonstrates sound stewardship and best value consistent with the Government of Canada’s socio-economic, security and environmental objectives. You also ensure the life-cycle management of assets, including planning, operation and maintenance, and divestiture This means tracking and safeguarding your department’s materiel assets, including controlled goods and those that have recognized heritage value. You ensure the efficient transfer or divesture of surplus materiel at the end of its life cycle to obtain the best value for the Crown.
