Description
Project sponsors play a central role in enabling successful project outcomes. This course provides project sponsors with an understanding of their role and influence when sponsoring large-scale change initiatives in the Government of Canada. Through a mix of online self-paced and in-class activities, participants will learn about their responsibilities as project sponsors, their accountabilities, and project assurance practices that contribute to effective project or programme delivery.
Topics include:
- explaining portfolio, programme, project, and product management
- examining accountabilities and leadership roles in project management
- reviewing project and programme management frameworks, governance, and assurance
- exploring stakeholder engagement and business case ownership

To fully participate in the School's virtual courses, you must have a camera and a microphone.
Notes:
This course is intended for executives at the EX-01, EX-02 and EX-03 level or equivalent, who are currently, or who will be, sponsoring one or more projects. The course includes a 1 hour online module (Module 1 – Pre-Course Introduction) which must be completed prior to the in-class session. All other modules will be completed during the in-class session.
