Description

Project management is a multifaceted discipline, often requiring project managers to apply project management formulas to make data-driven decisions and manage resources effectively. This online self-paced course explains how to calculate earned value, activity durations, and the expected monetary value of a project. Participants will explore essential elements such as the critical path, communication channels, and present-value calculations.

Topics include:

  • calculating the earned value for a project
  • calculating the expected duration of a project using the program evaluation and review technique (PERT)
  • calculating the expected monetary value of a project
  • calculating the critical path and the communications channels needed
  • calculating present-value

Notes:

This course is intended for all public servants, including those with or without project management experience. Materials are aligned with the PMBOK® Guide – Seventh Edition.

Completion of the 26 courses in the CAPM® course series can count towards the eligibility requirements for the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) exam administered for a fee by the Project Management Institute (PMI).

The CAPM® exam is not administered by the Canada School of Public Service. Learners wishing to take the exam are responsible for validating their eligibility directly with PMI.
