Description

International Women's Day is a day of unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy, and action and is celebrated in many countries worldwide. It is an occasion to highlight the advancements made in the pursuit of gender equality and the challenges that still need to be overcome, at home and abroad. The Government of Canada’s theme for International Women’s Day (IWD) 2024 is Invest in women: Accelerate progress.

This personal and inspiring event features Canadian-born Eliza Reid, First Lady of Iceland, a role model and advocate for women’s rights and gender parity, and author of the critically acclaimed Secrets of the Sprakkar: Iceland’s Extraordinary Women and How They Are Changing the World. She will share her own leadership journey and that of other Icelandic women leaders as well as highlight Iceland’s progress on gender equality.

Participants will learn about her impactful work in Iceland and the lessons learned that can be shared across Canada to help create a more equitable world.
