Description
Throughout history, the instinctive drive to form tribes has demonstrated the value of cooperation, empathy and mutual support. This drive, relying on common symbols and a shared identity to signal membership and cooperation, continues to have an enormous impact on society.
This thought-provoking event for government executives features David R. Samson, Ph.D., who will discuss the ideas from his 2023 prize-winning book, Our Tribal Future: How to Channel Our Foundational Human Instincts into a Force for Good. Professor Samson will explore the ways in which we can leverage our instinctive drive to promote cooperation and solidarity as a way to increase human wellness while warding off the by-products of an us-versus-them mentality.
Participants will learn how to accentuate the positives behind the instinctive drive to form tribes while mitigating its negative effects to tackle contemporary governance challenges and help build a more cohesive and empathetic society.
