Description

Required equipment for virtual courses

To fully participate in the School's virtual courses, you must have a camera and a microphone.

Adopting a coaching approach is an empowering way for leaders at all levels to inspire others and lead more effectively within their organization. This course explores the fundamental principles and practices of using a coaching approach in a one-on-one setting, including how to apply the GROW Model to structure these conversations. Participants will learn how to develop their listening and questioning skills and apply a coaching approach to engage others in powerful conversations.

Topics include:

  • distinguishing between a coaching approach and other leadership approaches
  • developing the skill of asking powerful questions
  • having conversations using the GROW Model
  • taking action to attain desired results
  • observing and reflecting on conversations, and adjusting listening accordingly

Notes:

This course is a prerequisite for Introduction to Peer Coaching (TRN401) and is uniquely focused on applying a coaching approach in a one-on-one setting, rather than in a group.

This course requires 30 minutes of pre-course preparatory work.
