Description
The recent events Values and Ethics in Today's Federal Public Service and Reconciling Personal Values with Public Service Ethics have set the stage for a continued dialogue on values and ethics in the federal workplace.
This year’s Jocelyne Bourgon Visiting Scholar Lecture features a keynote address by Ian Stedman, who will present on the challenges and opportunities of incorporating values and ethics into everyday work in the public service. In his role as the 2024–25 visiting scholar through the Jocelyne Bourgon Visiting Scholar Initiative, Mr. Stedman is well placed to discuss how the principles of values and ethics intersect with today’s expectations around equity, diversity, and inclusion.
This lecture will provide public servants at all levels with practical tools for addressing ethical challenges and insight into the key principles of fairness, accountability, and integrity. Participants will have the chance to reflect on how values and ethics shape their work, share their perspectives with peers, and leave with fresh ideas to strengthen ethical decision-making and common practices within their teams and organizations.
Launched in October 2021, the Jocelyne Bourgon Visiting Scholar Initiative recognizes academic expertise, fosters fresh ideas, and offers an external perspective on priority issues within the Government of Canada.
