Description
The work of the federal public service is foundational to the relationship between the Government of Canada and Parliament. This includes providing direct support through activities such as preparing materials for question period and responding to parliamentary questions and investigations, as well as indirect support through day-to-day operations that enable the government to meet its responsibilities to Parliament.
This event will feature a panel discussion with former agents of Parliament and federal senior officials about why the public service is critical in supporting the government’s obligations to Parliament.
Participants will gain a better understanding of the role of the federal public service in carrying out the executive branch’s obligations to the legislature through agents of Parliament while also observing their governmental obligations.
