Description
The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) provides comprehensive health and safety information on the safe use of hazardous products in Canadian workplaces. This online self-paced course offers an overview of the WHMIS changes, including updates to hazard classification, hazard labels and safety data sheets. Participants will learn about physical and health hazards encountered in the workplace, as well as controls for minimizing or eliminating exposure to hazardous materials.
Topics include:
- defining the roles and responsibilities of suppliers, employers, and employees
- identifying hazardous materials in the workplace
- applying required elements and standards of WHMIS-compliant labels and safety data sheets
- identifying controls for eliminating or minimizing exposure to hazardous materials
