Description

Part II of the Canada Labour Code protects the health and safety of employees in the federal jurisdiction. This online self-paced course provides an overview of the basic requirements and application of the Canada Labour Code, under which managers and supervisors carry out the role of the employer. Through case studies and practical exercises, participants will be able to familiarize themselves with their respective rights, duties and responsibilities.

Topics include:

  • understanding the Internal Responsibility System and due diligence
  • outlining the roles of employers, employees, health and safety committees, and representatives
  • reviewing the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, workplace inspections and investigations
  • resolving complaints and work refusals
  • enforcing the Code and criminal liability
