Description

For early-career public servants, gaining insight into foundational concepts such as the public good, professional neutrality, and the public service bargain is essential to understanding the inner workings of government.

The informative event features Alex Marland and Jared J. Wesley, co-authors of The Public Servant’s Guide to Government in Canada, who will share their insights into the norms, values, and expectations that shape a career in government. Their book serves as a concise primer into the realities of government and offers best practices for climbing the public service career ladder.

By connecting core concepts in political science and public administration to the real-world practice of working in the public service, participants will gain practical strategies for navigating the public service culture, including guidance on effective engagement with leadership and maintaining a responsible online presence.
