Description

Managers in the federal public service need a clear understanding of the considerations involved in assessing and responding to accommodation requests. This online self-paced course reviews the duty to accommodate, along with the key policies and directives that guide accommodation in the core public administration. Participants will learn about the roles and responsibilities of managers and the five-step process for evaluating and responding to workplace accommodation needs.

Topics include:

  • understanding the 13 prohibited grounds of discrimination
  • responding to accommodation requests in a respectful, timely and informed manner
  • describing the roles of managers, employees and HR in the accommodation process
  • exploring practical scenarios and best practices for evaluating accommodations
