To fully participate in the School's virtual courses, you must have a camera and a microphone.

A critical step in building strong diverse teams is to recognize, understand and overcome hidden prejudices. This course examines the consequences of unconscious biases and presents practical strategies to mitigate them in the workplace. By actively taking part in group discussions, participants will strengthen their ability to recognize and respond to their own biases, and will learn about concrete actions they can take to help foster a respectful and inclusive public service.

Topics include:

• recognizing unconscious biases
• identifying where unconscious biases come from, and who has them
• exploring strategies and tools to mitigate and respond to unconscious biases in the workplace

Notes:

This intermediate-level course is participation-based. It requires participants to work in small groups on topics related to identifying and addressing unconscious biases.

Having a foundational knowledge of unconscious bias prior to attending the course is required. For this reason, participants must complete Moving from Bias to Inclusion (INC123) as a prerequisite.
