Description
Canada's Anti-Racism Strategy 2024–2028 and Canada's Action Plan on Combatting Hate promote an inclusive and equitable society free of racism, where everyone can fully take part, thrive and feel safe. This online self-paced course explains how Islamophobia takes shape and explores its social and psychological impacts. Through a review of case studies and historical context, participants will acquire practical tools to confront stereotypes and to prevent and address harassment and discrimination in the workplace.
Topics include:
- defining Islamophobia
- understanding the roots and prevalence of Islamophobia in Canada
- examining how Islamophobia may be expressed in society and the workplace
- identifying ways to support colleagues through allyship
- understanding the impacts of Islamophobia on Muslim federal public servants

Advancing the Conversation on Systemic Racism
This course initiates a timely and meaningful conversation on how to identify and address the impacts of systemic racism in the workplace. Participants will advance their understanding of the challenges that accompany discrimination and learn concrete actions for confronting racism and creating meaningful change within the federal public service.

Call It Out: Racism, Racial Discrimination and Human Rights
Adapted from the Ontario Human Rights Commission, this online self-paced course explains the meaning of race, racism, and racial discrimination, and presents a historical overview of racism and racial discrimination in Canada. Participants will learn about the human rights protections under the Canadian Human Rights Act and will take away practical approaches for preventing and addressing instances of racial discrimination in their workplace.
Fostering an Inclusive Workplace
This online self-paced course introduces what it means to be equitable, diverse and inclusive, and how to support greater inclusion in the federal workplace. Participants will reflect on their own biases and privileges, while exploring practical actions they can take to foster inclusion and other areas to further their learning.
