GCdocs16: How to Perform an Advanced Search - Classic View

Performing an advanced search

  1. Select the Tools from the Global Menu bar
  2. Select Search from the drop-down menu
  3. Select one or more Search Forms from the Add to Search Form panel, if required OR you may choose from a system search form from in the drop down menu
  4. Enter your keyword(s) and/or criteria in the selected forms
  5. Select Search

Working with search forms

Search Forms are search templates that you use (and re-use) to perform an advanced search. GCdocs comes with predefined Search Forms. You can also create and save your own Search Templates.

When you first perform an advanced search, the Full Text form appears. To add Search Forms, select them from the Add to Search Form panel.

Adding to search form

Some of the more common advanced search forms include:

Full Text
performs a keyword search
System Attributes
allows you to narrow your search by Object type, Created By, Creation Date and other attributes
Natural Language Query
allows you to search by phrasing or asking a question
Email
allow you to search e-mails based on full text, subject line, recipient, sender, date received and date sent

Note: The more search criteria you use, the narrower your search results will be. A best practice is to start with a broad search and gradually refine your search.
